Lined with some of the world's most gorgeous beaches, Thailand continues to attract all sorts of beach lovers, from backpack-toting cash-strapped students to families on a holiday, to those craving a buzzy scene or salt air pampering.

Here are the top ten beaches in Thailand that you must visit:

1. Kata beach

Kata Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Phuket. It is a beautiful bay of white sand and a clear blue sea, also ideal for swimming and sunbathing. You’ll find many people snorkeling, kayaking, and scuba-diving on the beach. The nights at Kata beach, much like the days, are fun-filled with many late-night eateries that offer you the best of food and drinks.

2. Patong Beach

Another adventure-filled location in Phuket is the very popular Patong Beach. There’s no limit to what you can do here. Enjoy the water and the sun, with fun activities like parasailing, jet skiing, water biking, or experiencing a relaxing massage by a masseuse, you’ll find on the beach! Not to forget a day at Patong is incomplete without some chilled beer and great snacks.

3. Railay Beach

Krabi hosts a gorgeous peninsula with breathtaking landscapes and picturesque sandy beaches. Railay beach will leave you awe-struck with its white-sand beaches, lagoons, and scenic viewpoints. Some spectacular pathways lead towards these beaches through dense jungle covers and limestone cliffs. Once you’re here you wouldn’t want to leave as the emerald sea and the mighty rock formations conjure up a picture-perfect backdrop here with some restaurants and bars located directly on the beach to enjoy and chill out with a view of the sea.

4. Phra Nang Beach

Out of the four peninsula beaches, Phra Nang beach is on the southern tip of the peninsula and hosts a few caves that will astonish you. The most famous one, the Princess cave, is dedicated to an ancient fertility goddess and is well-known among tourists. The beach, like many of its counterparts, is dotted with limestones and you can also try your hands at rock climbing!

5. Maya Bay

Stunning stretches of white sand and clear waters are what Maya Bay on Phi Phi island is all about. With high lush green cliffs, exotic fish, and coral reserves, you’re bound to fall in love with this paradisiacal bay. If that isn’t enough for you, Leonardo DiCaprio has to be! You guessed it right, this is where his film BEACH was shot, and it sure has some dazzling scenes.

6. Long Beach

If you’d like to explore the jungle trails on the way that's an option too. The beach is suited for snorkeling and swimming and has several resorts and bungalows for a calm evening, to enjoy the view or grab a bite.

7. Silver Beach

It has a reputation for being less crowded as compared to other Thai beaches, so if you'd like some isolation, Silver Beach is the place to be. The beach has some of the clearest waters and white sands, thus giving it its name, and it is also a great place for kayaking and snorkeling.

8. Chaweng beach
